39 International Business: Competing in the Global Marketplace, 11th Edition Making the Apple iPhone In its early days, Apple usually didn�t await beyond its own backyard to manufacture its devices. A few years later Apple started to make the Macintosh computer back in 1983, the belatedly Steve Jobs bragged that information technology was �a car that was made in America.� As late as the early 2000s, Apple still manufactured many of its computers at the company�south iMac constitute in Elk Grove, California.
