Gripe water sent us to the ER

I gave my 3 calendar month old gripe water this afternoon to calm his breadbasket. I used the syringe and he started crying right equally I put it in his mouth so he aspirated. He choked so hard and couldn't breathe and his lips turned bluish. He was coughing and wheezing for about 20 min, I chosen the nurse line and she told me to accept him in right away. He got a chest Ten-ray and everything is fine, no fluid. Just they told me to lookout for a fever or a cough as he could possibly go pneumonia now. Never giving him gripe water once again which sucks because it totally works for him :(

Was it mommys bliss? My lo most high-strung on that and e'er throws information technology upward only did fine on little remedies. So sorry this happened to y'all!!

Im lamentable LO experienced this. A little communication though (strictly because I've constitute that the syringe can be too forceful) yous tin can put it into a bottle and requite it to yous LO this way.

I'chiliad so sorry!! 1 way to aid this from happening, and this is only a suggestion for yous NOT a judgement at all, is to signal the syringe towards their cheek inside their rima oris when giving medicine. This may not accept helped in your case though just ordinarily it gives the baby a take a chance to realize there is something in their oral cavity and to swallow instead of information technology shooting straight towards their pharynx. I'g sorry this happened, I hope your LO is Ok!

He'due south perfectly fine now! I did point it towards his cheek when I gave it to him..just in one case I recall near information technology, where I went incorrect was I didn't have him sitting up plenty.

I hope your lo will experience better soon. I had a very similar issue with mommys bliss also. Information technology's been always scary to me likewise. The fact that my girl can suck everything in the dropper suddenly and on her own, I accept never filled the dropper more than than 0.2 ml at one fourth dimension. Otherwise she coughs and wheezes scarily after sucking all.

I agree with the other poster, apply the elevation of a bottle to put the medicine in instead of using the syringe. I merely use the syringe to measure the corporeality and then put information technology in the nipple of a bottle and she will drink it that style. I do this for infant Tylenol too and it worked great! She will beverage every drib of it wth no problem.

I apply a pacifier medicine cup. You and measure out with the syringe and so put it in the pacifier. The baby sucks out the medicine through the hole

I take i of those and the pigsty is huge so it just dumps it in his mouth :(

My girl kept coughing/choking with the syringe then I put it in a bottle and she drinks it without a trouble.
